Summary

Dangerously addictive, The Secrets of Us is a pulse-pounding exploration of a disturbed psyche and the bond between two sisters desperate to escape a troubled past。

Foster sisters Krystal and Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her。

Scarred by a hard upbringing, Nichole and Krystal managed to construct comfortable lives for themselves。 Krystal became a respected lawyer, and Nichole was happily married to an architect—until Nichole starts raving that her husband isn’t her husband, believing that he’s an imposter。

Driven by fierce loyalty, Krystal starts asking questions, but she’s not sure she can bear the answers。 Her investigation leads to the sisters’ dark shared past…to a horrible tragedy and a well-guarded lie that cemented their sisterly bond。

But that lie can’t kill the truth—the battered, gasping, clawing truth that’s coming for them both。 Now Krystal and Nichole must both fight for the lives they’ve built before they’re consumed by the one they left behind。

Lucinda's latest release does not disappoint! On the surface, this MAY seem like another cookie-cutter story of 2 sisters who share a traumatic upbringing。。。BUT there's oh so many dark, twisted hallways in that upbringing! Full of twists and turns, that will have you holding your breath to the very end! The story grabs you from page 1, and every time you think you have the plot figured out, a new curveball comes flying at you。 Lucinda's latest release does not disappoint! EmotionalThis was very emotional for me。 Lucinda Berry knows how to write emotional stories that grab your attention and you just have to keep reading。 Her stories always stay with me, I can't Say more because I don't want to spoil it but it was very emotional。 I'd have like a different ending but I understand why it ended that way。 Fast paced and page turner read for sure EmotionalThis was very emotional for me。 Lucinda Berry knows how to write emotional stories that grab your attention and you just have to keep reading。 Her stories always stay with me, I can't Say more because I don't want to spoil it but it was very emotional。 I'd have like a different ending but I understand why it ended that way。 Fast paced and page turner read for sure 。。。more

What I love about Lucinda’s books is with each one there’s so much psychology behind them。 They always have me thinking deeply about why the character is the way they are and why they do what they do。 Foster sisters Krystal & Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after almost killing her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her。 Even if that means having to uncover painful & dark secrets that run deep between the two。I loved What I love about Lucinda’s books is with each one there’s so much psychology behind them。 They always have me thinking deeply about why the character is the way they are and why they do what they do。 Foster sisters Krystal & Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after almost killing her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her。 Even if that means having to uncover painful & dark secrets that run deep between the two。I loved seeing the loyalty between the two characters。 It made me want to root for them together, hoping they would figure out what actually happened the night that put Nichole and her husband in the hospital。 I also really like when stories alternate from past to present & it parallels what is happening in the book。 This one is a bit of a slow burn, but an exciting one for sure。 I really enjoyed The Secrets of Us。 4 ⭐️ 。。。more

Unbelievable!!! Lucinda Berry never fails to impress me。。。 I love all her books and this one is just as good as all the others。 Revenge and anger can move you in ways you wouldn’t believe possible。。。 however we all have one person at least that we would hold secrets forever。 Absolutely gripping! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It pacts a punch。 The story of us is an interesting and compelling read from the onset。 The book delves straight into the story and greeted with Nicole in midst an extreme psychotic break and has been found at the scene of an attempted murder agasint her husband。I read the author was a psychologist and this shows thoguh in the writing。 Equally it adds and addtional layer to the storytelling。 As Nicole's psychosis develop the reading is taking into her psyche, at times you have to figure out what It pacts a punch。 The story of us is an interesting and compelling read from the onset。 The book delves straight into the story and greeted with Nicole in midst an extreme psychotic break and has been found at the scene of an attempted murder agasint her husband。I read the author was a psychologist and this shows thoguh in the writing。 Equally it adds and addtional layer to the storytelling。 As Nicole's psychosis develop the reading is taking into her psyche, at times you have to figure out what is real and not。The light in this story comes from the second protagonist Kristol。 She comes to her sisters recuse looking to for a way to help her through this time。The timeline flows between the present day and their childhood, rooted in Nicole's psychosis is trauma from her past。 I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller and it kept you guess to the very end。 。。。more

I’m such a fan of this author, she writes really smart psychological thrillers and as a psychologist herself she provides such a fascinating insight into her books。 She has a knack for getting deep inside her characters minds and psyches that really allows for a very interesting reading experience。 If you like psychological thrillers with an emphasis on the psychological aspect you have to check out her books。This flips from the present day and Krystal’s viewpoint to the past in Nichole’s POV。 B I’m such a fan of this author, she writes really smart psychological thrillers and as a psychologist herself she provides such a fascinating insight into her books。 She has a knack for getting deep inside her characters minds and psyches that really allows for a very interesting reading experience。 If you like psychological thrillers with an emphasis on the psychological aspect you have to check out her books。This flips from the present day and Krystal’s viewpoint to the past in Nichole’s POV。 Both timelines were great and super interesting for me, both women had an incredibly rough childhood and seeing how their bond in the past informed their present day relationship was fascinating for me。 As the book nears the finish line I was totally caught up in this dark story of loyalty and how tragic events can bond people in an unbreakable way。 Definitely recommended as a fast paced and engaging read。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Wow! I bought it before it was published as part of the Amazon First deal。 It’s a good thriller with a surprising ending in that Berry told us who did it and how from the beginning。 What kept me reading and unable to put the book down until 1am was how everything merged into a delicious ending that had me questioning if anybody can truly be good or if everybody works in the grey areas。 I’d love to know more about Krystal and Nichole’s story from here。 If Nichole gets the justice and punishment s Wow! Thought provoking analysisGripping story with unexpected twists。 I admire how the author presents expert knowledge in brilliant narrative。 I enjoyed how she peels layers of the truth。 Her portrayal is sharp and non-judgemental。 My only critical remark: I could hardly put it down and neglected chores。 It was worth it。 Unforgettable。

I've really enjoyed Berry's previous titles and this was no exception。 I had an inkling I knew what the sister was suffering from as I have a background in psychology but I had absolutely no idea how their past experiences would impact the siblings future。 I did not guess the ending and that's why I loved this book。 You'll start off thinking it's predictable but it isn't, which is what makes a good book great, in my opinion。 I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a psychological thri I've really enjoyed Berry's previous titles and this was no exception。 I had an inkling I knew what the sister was suffering from as I have a background in psychology but I had absolutely no idea how their past experiences would impact the siblings future。 I did not guess the ending and that's why I loved this book。 You'll start off thinking it's predictable but it isn't, which is what makes a good book great, in my opinion。 I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller and - as always - I very much look forward to reading more from this exceptionally talented author。 。。。more

An ok readIt kept my interest enough to finish but I don't think bar one other book I have read that I have ever come across such an abrupt ending。The whole book seemed to be leading up to this big crescendo then just petered out to well, nothing really。I found more questions than answers。 I also found a lot of the sisters background and the psychology a bit far fetched。 An ok readIt kept my interest enough to finish but I don't think bar one other book I have read that I have ever come across such an abrupt ending。The whole book seemed to be leading up to this big crescendo then just petered out to well, nothing really。I found more questions than answers。 I also found a lot of the sisters background and the psychology a bit far fetched。 。。。more

Mixed feelings about this one, as with so many of the books I read these days。 The horrors of the past were well presented, with one scene in particular (a fatal 'accident') genuinely chilling。 The storyline in the present started out strong but in the end felt too implausible。 Also I was expecting a final clever twist and it never came。 Ultimately forgettable。 Mixed feelings about this one, as with so many of the books I read these days。 The horrors of the past were well presented, with one scene in particular (a fatal 'accident') genuinely chilling。 The storyline in the present started out strong but in the end felt too implausible。 Also I was expecting a final clever twist and it never came。 Ultimately forgettable。 。。。more

So I’ve been reading Lucinda Berry’s books for years and years and I love her writing so much。 I love that she’s an actual psychologist and knows soooo much about what she writes about。 But let me tell you that I read the last 30 minutes of this book with my hand planted firmly over my mouth and I gasped so many times I lost count。 I learned about a condition that I’ve never heard of somewhere in the there but OH MY FREAKING GOSH I can’t even begin to tell you how shocked I was by everything in So I’ve been reading Lucinda Berry’s books for years and years and I love her writing so much。 I love that she’s an actual psychologist and knows soooo much about what she writes about。 But let me tell you that I read the last 30 minutes of this book with my hand planted firmly over my mouth and I gasped so many times I lost count。 I learned about a condition that I’ve never heard of somewhere in the there but OH MY FREAKING GOSH I can’t even begin to tell you how shocked I was by everything in this book!
